Biography

Marie M. Bexten, age 86, of Rich Fountain, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010, at the Westphalia Hills Retirement Center.

Marie was born April 30, 1924, in Rich Fountain to the late Henry and Louise (Struempf) Bexten.

She attended Sacred Heart School at Rich Fountain and had worked for Tweedies Shoe Factory, the International Shoe Factory and Chesebrough Ponds during her adult years.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Sodality and the Quilting Circle.
Marie was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal Fan and enjoyed playing cards and Scrabble and working in her flower garden.

Marie is survived by: two sister-in-laws, Johanna Bexten of the home in Rich Fountain and Stella Bexten of Manilla, IA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and
great great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: five brothers, George, John, Steve, Alfred and Joe Bexten; and two sisters, Elizabeth Welschmeyer and Julianna Bexten.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 12, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain with Fr. Philip Niekamp and Fr. Joe Welschmeyer as the Celebrants. Interment will follow at the Sacred Heart Church Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Masses.
