Dorothy “Dot” Hope Branson, age 89 of Linn, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at the Arbors in Jefferson City.
Dorothy was born August 26, 1929, in Linn, a daughter to the late James and Tillie (Litton) Wolfe.
She was a 1946 graduate of Linn High School.
On August 4, 1949, she was united in marriage to Bob Branson at Solid Rock Baptist Church in Judge. He survives of the home.
Dorothy was the co-owner of Branson Appliance, located in Linn, from 1949 to 1987.
She was a charter member of the Linn First Baptist Church and a Girl and Boy Scout Leader.
Dorothy enjoyed scrapbooking, traveling, organizing photos from family trips, baking, playing board games and putting puzzles together. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.
In addition to her spouse of 70 years, Dorothy is survived by: two sons, Gordon Branson and his wife Dena of Fulton and Greg Branson and his wife Kathy of Linn; two daughters, Glenda Branson of Jefferson City and Gina Kroeger and her husband David of Eureka; two sisters, Juanita Branson of Kirkwood and Barbara Sue Maasen and her husband Gary of Linn; six grandchildren, Monica (Don) Chesser, Kyle (Laura) Branson, Miranda (Doug) Hostetter, Kristi (Ryan) Stokes, Katie (Oscar) Alvarez, and Stacey Branson; eight great grandchildren, Matthew, Noah, Lilly, Micah, and Nathan Chesser, Kellen, Hallie, and Declan Branson; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James “Jim” Wolfe and Don “Ike” Wolfe; one sister, Lucille Turner and her husband Robert and one brother-in-law, Bill Branson.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Linn. An additional visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the church.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Linn with Rev. David Krueger officiating. Interment will be in the Linn Public Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice Compassus.
