Alan R. Helmig

Alan R. Helmig, age 60, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 1, 2016, at the Degreeff Hospice House in St. Louis County.

Alan was born July 9, 1956, in St. Charles, a son to the late Alva J. and Mary Lou (Davis) Helmig.

Alan was a 1974 graduate of Orchard Farm High School in St. Charles County.

Alan was employed at Hussmann Refrigeration located in Bridgeton, Missouri until his retirement in December of 2014.

On January 8, 2011, Alan was united in marriage to Angela (Jennings) Helmig at St. Ambrose Church in St. Louis City.

Alan enjoyed hunting and fishing but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his spouse, Alan is survived by: son, Richard Helmig and his wife Shannon of Wentzville; two daughters, Angela Mullen and her husband Matt of St. Peters, and Jennifer Mendenhall of Wentzville; step-son, Daniel Jennings and his wife Heather of Hillsboro; step-daughter; Lindsay Christopher and her husband Jeremy of Hillsboro; brother, Dennis J. Helmig of St. Peters; two sisters, Virginia D. Shields and her husband John of Lonedell, MO., and Margaret G. Barber of Wright City; nine grandchildren, Brittany, Brooke, Cameron, Madison, Kylie, Ethan, Amelia, Tyler and Clayton and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, Alan was preceded in death by: step-son, Jonathan Jennings.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Oklahoma Church of Christ in Linn. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Mark Gregor officiating. Interment will be in the Oklahoma Church of Christ Cemetery.
