Ann Williams, age 94 of Loose Creek, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Stonebridge Westphalia Hills surrounded by her loving family.
Ann was born April 1, 1928, in Loose Creek, a daughter to the late Anton and Agnes (Haslag) Backes.
She was a 1946 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Loose Creek.
On June 11, 1953, she was united in marriage to Herbert Williams at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek. He preceded her in death on September 21, 2000.
Ann was a homemaker and raised her children before going to work for the Missouri Water Patrol in Jefferson City. She retired in June of 1999.
She was a very devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek where she sang with the parish choir. She was also a member of St. Ann’s Sewing Circle and St. Ann’s Sodality.
Ann enjoyed quilting, music, bingo, gardening, and baking especially her angel food cakes, rolls, and pies. She raised vegetables and fruit and enjoyed canning them and she always saved the best strawberries for the priest. Ann loved taking care of people and donating to the poor.
Ann is survived by seven children: Paul Williams of Loose Creek, Barbara (Roger) Backes of Loose Creek, Rita (Alan) Stiefermann of Loose Creek, Mary(Leon) Markway of Westphalia, Mark (Tina) Williams of Loose Creek, Joan (Greg) Muenks of Loose Creek, and Charles (Judy) Williams of Westphalia; 19 grandchildren, Tabi (Paul) Johnson, Brian (Cathy) Backes, LeAnn (Craig) Kampeter, Kelly (Drea) Stiefermann, Sara (Casey) Schwartze, Kerry (Corey) Powell, Kevin (Annalee) Markway, Keith (Megan) Markway, Michael (Jill) Williams, Ashlee (Kyle) Hedrick, Gavin Williams, Kiley Williams, Amanda (Tyler) Rademann, Ryan (Angie) Muenks, Emily (Preston) Donjon, Ethan (Mary Jo) Williams, Jordyn (Matt) Eisterhold, Sam Williams and Lucy Williams; two step-grandchildren, Erick Turley and Kaylin (Ryan) Turnbull; 33 great grandchildren with one on the way; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Williams of Loose Creek; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents and spouse of 47 years, she was preceded in death by: one great granddaughter, Victoria Muenks; nine brothers, Herman, Fr. Hugo, Martin, Lawrence, Adolph, Fr. Charles, Peter, Paul, and Raymond Backes; and two sisters, Sr. Antonice Backes and Louise Volk.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, with Fr. Anthony Rinaldo as the Celebrant. Interment will be in the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to help the poor.
