Arthur “Art” Joseph Orscheln, 76, of Loose Creek, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019, at SSM Health St. Mary’s in Jefferson City. 

Art was born August 28, 1942, in Loose Creek, a son to the late Joseph and Ida (Voss) Orscheln.

Art attended grade school at Immaculate Conception in Loose Creek. He was a 1960 graduate of Fatima High School.

On August 8, 1970, he was united in marriage to Linda Winkelman at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta.  She survives at their home.

Art was a carpenter for over 43 years. He worked for Al Backes Construction and Clifford Kliethermes Construction. In the early 1990’s, he and his son Eric founded A & E Orscheln Construction.  In addition, Art and Eric also farmed and raised cattle.

Art was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek where he served on the parish council and the building committee.  He was also a member of the Loose Creek Community Club. 

Art loved telling stories that were handed down from his Dad, other family members and friends.  He loved American History, especially the Civil War, the westward movement and World War II.  He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends. 

In addition to his spouse of 49 years, Art is survived by:  two daughters, Anne Luebbert of Bonnots Mill and Valerie Kempker and her husband James of Westphalia; daughter-in-law, Tricia Orscheln of Loose Creek; four brothers, Don Orscheln and his wife Phyllis of Linn, Harvey Orscheln and his wife Anne of Moberly, Larry Orscheln and his wife Rose of Bonnots Mill and Melvin Orscheln and his wife Janet of Loose Creek; three sisters, Mary Ellen Chambers and her husband Phil of Linn, Joan McKim and her husband Matt of Loose Creek and Betty Lansford of Linn; 6 grandchildren, Evan and Jorey Luebbert, Avery and Toren Orscheln, Gavin and Dominic Kempker; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one son, Eric Orscheln.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek with Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Callistus C. Okoroji as the celebrant.  Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Loose Creek.
