Arthur "Art" Joseph Riegel

Arthur "Art" J. Riegel, age 82 of Chamois, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.

Arthur was born November 5, 1933, in Linn, a son to the late Fred and Frances (Nilges) Riegel.

Arthur was a 1952 graduate of Linn High School.

On August 21, 1954, he was united in marriage to Shirley Scott at St. George Catholic Church in Linn. She preceded him in death on April 12, 2014.

Arthur was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Chamois. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a past Grand Knight.

Arthur was a truck driver and later worked for Central Electric Power Co-op as an operating engineer for 40 years before retiring. He and Shirley also owned and operated Riegel Game Room in Chamois for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his co-workers, friends and family. Arthur was a loving uncle, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Arthur is survived by: one daughter, Kimberly Ames and her husband Terry of Chamois; three sons, Clarence "Ralph" Riegel and his wife Debbie of Rhineland, Elmer Riegel and his wife Deborah of Montgomery City, and Russell Riegel of Kansas City; one sister, Mary Ruth Deeken of Linn; one brother, Fred Riegel and his wife Pricilla of Lee Summit; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and spouse of 60 years, Arthur was preceded in death by: one brother, Norbert Riegel and a great granddaughter, Isabelle Ann Ames.

Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Morton Chapel in Chamois.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016, at Most Pure Heart of Mary in Chamois with Fr. David Means officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Parish Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
