Betty Jean Buhr, age 86, of Bonnots Mill, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born on June 7, 1940, in Loose Creek, a daughter to the late John Rotter, Sr., and Caroline (Muenks) Rotter.
She attended Immaculate Conception School in Loose Creek and was a 1958 graduate of Fatima High School.
On April 11, 1964, she was united in marriage to Harvey Buhr at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek. Harvey survives at their residence.
Betty was employed at the Missouri Department of Revenue until she started her family. Once all the kids started school, she was a rural route mail carrier, later she co-owned and operated Krautman’s Korner Café and was a stylist at B’s Beads and Bangles. In her retirement, she enjoyed working on the family farm with her husband Harvey.
She was a member of St. Louis of France Catholic Church in Bonnots Mill, Home and Garden Club, Bonnot’s Mill 4H leader, Bonnots Mill Community Betterment Association and the Bonnots Mill sewing circle.
Betty enjoyed baking, especially her pies and stuffing, playing her lottery tickets, bowling, quilting and embroidery. She was a classy lady who always enjoyed a Diet Coke. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Those who left to mourn her passing include her husband Harvey of 62 years, her three children: Leah Ann (Bryan) Boss, Donna (Greg) Bonnot and John (Connie) Buhr all of Bonnots Mill; eight grandchildren, Alyssa (Brian) Jaouni, Dillon (Andrea) Boss, Samantha (Francis) Starke, Anna (Jeb) Hellebust, Michael (Alexis) Bonnot, Kimberly (Levi) Hentges, Cody (Carson) Borgmeyer and Tanner Buhr; 14 great grandchildren; two brothers, John “Tommy” Rotter of Holts Summit, and Charles (Dorothy) Rotter of Jefferson City; a sister-in-law, Doris Rotter of Loose Creek; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Jean Marie and Mary Jean Buhr; and one brother, Alvin Rotter.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Morton Chapel in Linn.
An additional visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at St. Louis of France Catholic Church in Bonnots Mill with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Anthony Rinaldo as the Celebrant. Interment will be held in St. Louis of France Parish Cemetery in Bonnots Mill.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Louis of France Catholic Church in Bonnots Mill or the Bonnots Mill Community Betterment Association.
