Dale Benson

Dale Benson, age 74, of Loose Creek, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Dale was born on January 10, 1949, in Chamois, a son to the late Herbert and Margaret (Perrey) Benson.

Dale attended Hazelwood High School in Hazelwood.

On October 19, 1968, he was united in marriage to Jerri Peters at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Frankenstein.  Jerri survives at their home.

Dale was a farmer, who also owned and operated his own business, Dale Benson Gravel Service.  He later was employed at Walmart in Jefferson City for 10 years until 2018 when his health started to decline.

Dale was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Linn and was a former member of the Loose Creek Community Club.

Dale enjoyed working on his farm, cooking especially his famous German Pot Roast, curing country hams, cutting wood, and sitting around the campfire.  He was a people person, who never knew a stranger, and he was a loyal friend.  He liked to brag about Jerri’s sewing skills.  His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends, especially around a campfire.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, Dale is survived by two daughters, Penny Benson of Freeburg and Holly Eynard and her husband Tim of Loose Creek; five grandchildren, Sammy Wayne, Drew and Jenah Farley, Mitch and Nich Eynard; two brothers, Mike Benson and his wife Kathy of Grove, OK., and Donnie Benson and his wife Mary of Linn; two sisters, Ruth Withers of Holts Summit and Sandy Monroe and her husband John of Linn; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by a niece, Lori Benson and a brother-in-law, Larry Withers.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Colin Franklin as the Celebrant.  Inurnment will be held in St. George Parish Cemetery.
