Daniel “Danny” Herzing, age 83, of Vienna, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.
Danny was born on August 14, 1943, in Freeburg, a son to the late Joseph “Joe” and Cunigunda “Cunie” (Hoffman) Herzing.
He served his country in the United States Army. Once he left the army, he was employed at Beck Motors in Freeburg until his retirement.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg.
Danny enjoyed holiday dinners surrounded by his family, going to social events like picnics, apple festivals and the Missouri State Fair. He was always up for playing bingo and spending time with his beloved dog, Hunter. He never met a stranger and was always up for telling a good story.
Danny is survived by his two sisters, LaVerne Russell (Donnie Wieberg) of Argyle and Delores (Dave) Martin of Jefferson City; his special friend, Jim Wakeland of Vienna; two sisters-in-law, Betty Herzing of Jefferson City, and Sharon Herzing of Vienna. He had a special place in his heart for his goddaughters, Dawn (Raymond) Wieberg of Argyle, Stacy (Bill) Chiles of Fulton; his great niece, Samantha (Austin) Distler of Vienna; along with other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Herzing and LeRoy Herzing; and a sister, Lorraine Herzing.
Per Danny’s request, his body has been cremated, and private family graveside service with full military honors will be held at Holy Family Parish Cemetery in Freeburg at a later date.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the local first responders, ambulance, Capitol Region Medical Center, Harry S. Truman VA Hospital and University of Missouri Hospital for the excellent care that they gave Danny during his illness.
