Darlene Marie Falter, age 82 of Freeburg, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Stonebridge Nursing Home in Westphalia.
Darlene was born December 25, 1943, in Jefferson City, a daughter to the late Joseph Bernard and Antonia Marie (Holterman) Schwartz.
She attended Holy Family Grade School and was a 1961 graduate of Fatima High School.
On April 23, 1966, she was united in marriage to Henry Joseph Falter at Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1999.
Darlene was employed at the State of Missouri as a Personnel Officer for the Department of Health from July 26, 1961, until her retirement on July 31, 1999.
She was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church serving as a Lector, Sacristan, Rosary leader and Communion Minister. Darlene also taught Sunday School, Core Groups for Youth, and served on the Fund-Raising Committee for Holy Family Home and School for 10 years. She served on the Picnic Committee, Vocation Committee, was a volunteer at Holy Family School and took time to deliver meals to the Hospice House in Jefferson City.
Darlene enjoyed making her decorated sugar cookies and cinnamon rolls. Saying her daily prayers was highly important to her.
Darlene is survived by: two daughters, Lori Ann Bax and her husband Darrell of Freeburg, and Dana Kay Peters and her husband Richard of Linn; two sisters, Betty Ann Luebbering of St. Thomas and Arline (Bill) Lehmen of Osage Bend; a brother, Danny Schwartz of Freeburg; four grandchildren, Logan (Jessica) Bax , Amber (Tommy) Flowers, Nathan (Emily) Peters and Jacob (fiancée Andrea Haller) Peters; four great grandchildren, Gavin and Rilyn Schlottke and Hunter and Josie Bax; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her spouse of 33 years and her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Schwartz and a brother-in-law, Robert Luebbering.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. William Debo as the Celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Family Parish Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Holy Family School Expansion Project.
