Delmar R. Monroe, age 81 of Linn, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at SSM Health St Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.

Delmar was born May 9, 1944, in St Louis, a son to the late Howard and Neva (Clark) Monroe.

Delmar was a 1962 graduate of Linn High School and attended Linn State Technical College and Lincoln University.

On August 24, 1968, he was united in marriage to Lana Gove at the Oklahoma Church of Christ. She survives of the home.

Delmar proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army serving a total of 37 years. He was a Federal Technical Rotary Wing Mechanic while in the Army. Delmar worked as Chief Deputy for Osage County and then joined the Missouri National Guard until he retired. After retirement he was employed at Thriftway Supermarket in Linn.

Delmar served as an EMT and firefighter. He believed in volunteering and helping everyone. He helped run a food pantry with Capital City Christian Church in the 1990’s. He was a proud Christian, very patriotic , a firm believer in our Constitutional rights, especially the right to bear arms.

Delmar was a charter member and Elder at the Community Christian Church in Linn, member of VFW Post 4736, the Masons, past president of Osage County Water District 2 and had served as Civil Defense President for Osage County.

Delmar enjoyed target shooting and collecting guns and coins. He was a great storyteller and loved the time spent with his family.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, Delmar is survived by, one son, Timothy (Tiffany) Monroe of Jefferson City, two daughters, Andrea (Steve) Wilmesher of Versailles and Cathy (Dennis) Niekamp of Linn, ten grandchildren, Anthony Monroe, Austin Monroe, Aaron Monroe, Kristine (Austin) White, Kaylee (Jacob) Niekamp-Coogan, Rachel Latimer, Michael Niekamp, Zion Smith, Zariah Monroe and Zane Monroe, two great grandchildren, James and Malachi, one sister, Debbie Hudson of Linn and one niece, Carrie (Matt) Pacini of Linn.

In addition to his parents, Delmar was preceded in death by, one brother, Daniel Monroe and one sister, Virginia Turner.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday December 5, 2025, at the Community Christian Church in Linn.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Community Christian Church in Linn with Charles Dietz officiating.

Interment with full military honors will follow at the Oklahoma Church Cemetery.

Expression of sympathy may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
