Donald "Don" R. Schwartze



Donald “Don” R. Schwartze, age 62 of Rich Fountain, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

 

Don was born February 13, 1955, in Jefferson City, a son to the late August and Agnes (Stratman) Schwartze.

 

Don was a 1973 graduate of Fatima High School.

 

On October 3, 1981, he was united in marriage to Joan M. Neuner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain.  She survives of the home.

 

Don worked for the Rock Island and Southern Pacific Railroads for twenty-two years before taking a job as a Railroad Safety Inspector for the State of Missouri where he worked from 1996 until illness forced his retirement in 2011.

 

Don was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Member of the Msgr. Ralph Kutz Assembly, the Brotherhood Maintenance of Way Union, a former member of the Osage County R-3 School Board, and a certified trainer for Operation Lifesaver.

 

He enjoyed golf, landscaping, following his children’s accomplishments in school and sports, card playing (especially Pitch), deer hunting, and watching various sports.

 

In addition to his wife of 35 years, he is survived by: four daughters, Emily Schwartze Post and her husband Ryan Post of St. Louis, Sarah Schwartze and her significant other Justin Boudeman of St. Louis, Kaitlyn Schwartze and her fiancé Derek Holtmeyer of Rich Fountain, and Jenna Schwartze of Kansas City; two grandchildren, August Wise Schwartze Post and Everett Atlas Schwartze Post; five brothers, Charles Schwartze and his wife Gert of Argyle, Sylvester “Bud” Schwartze and his wife JoAnn of Argyle, Norb Schwartze and his wife Marilyn of St. James, Bob Schwartze and his wife Lynne of Columbia, Dave Schwartze and his wife Donna Jean of Argyle; six sisters, Olivia Borgmeyer and her husband Art of Sedalia, Ann Bax and her husband Arnold of Vienna, Patricia Stambaugh and her husband Phil of St. James, Margaret Poettgen and her husband Joe of Freeburg, Florence McMahon and her husband John of Palm Springs, CA, and his twin sister, Donna Kay Wieberg of Argyle; one brother-in-law, Lawrence Buschmann and his wife Dorothy of Vienna; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Buschmann and a brother-in-law, Glen Wieberg.


Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain. 


Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11,
2017, at Sacred HeartHeart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain with Fr. William Debo as the celebrant. 


Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery.
 

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic School or Sacred
 Heart Endowment Fund.
