Evelyn Marie Perkins

Evelyn Marie Perkins, age 97, of Boonville, formerly of Linn, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.

 

Evelyn was born on March 24, 1927, in Ottawa, Kansas, a daughter to the late Lawrence Edward and Pauline Christine (Phillips) Withers.

 

Evelyn was employed at Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company in St. Louis and Kansas City before returning to Linn, where she was employed and retired from Linn Technical College in 1984 to be a full-time grandma.   

 

Evelyn was a member of Fairview Church of Christ but attended First Baptist Church in Linn.  She was also a member of the Daughters of America and Linn Senior Center.

 

Evelyn enjoyed embroidering baby quilts to give to family members, along with reading, traveling, word puzzles, growing flowers, feeding the hummingbirds, and playing with her dogs and cats.  She was known in her neighborhood for having blow-up figurines in her yard for every holiday. She loved to share her talent of cooking with her family and especially making her Christmas cookies.  Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially all her grandchildren.  

 

Evelyn is survived by her two daughters, Paula Finn of Jefferson City and Pam Williams of Boonville; two sisters, Iva Bower of Linn and Sue Stowe of Lebanon; ten grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.  

 

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Bobeen; granddaughter, Heather Williams; great granddaughter, Brianna Gargac; and her siblings, Bea Jones, Richard Withers, LeRoy Withers, Ralph Withers, Hazle Warren, Fern Heyman and Larry Withers.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Ely Manor Event Center in Linn.

 

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
