Gary Dale Nilges, age 79, of Linn, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Capitol River Wellness and Rehabilitation in Jefferson City.

Gary was born on October 22, 1946, in Jefferson City, a son to the late Philip and Lillian (Kemmer) Nilges.

He was a 1964 graduate of Linn High School.

On December 2, 1972, he was united in marriage to Agnes Dudenhoeffer at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Frankenstein. Agnes survives at their home.

Gary was employed as a warehouse manger for the American Cancer Society in Jefferson City until it closed.

Gary enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching old westerns, and keeping his lawn looking nice. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of fifty-three years, Gary is survived by his two children, Aaron Nilges of Linn and Andrea Bethune of Jefferson City; five grandchildren, Madyson Nilges, Laney Bethune, Morgen Nilges, Michael Nilges, and Landon Bethune; one sister, Phyllis (Don) Orscheln of Linn, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Colin Franklin as the Celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. George Catholic Church.
