Harold A. "Butch" Veltrop

Harold A. “Butch” Veltrop, age 79 of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City surrounded by his loving family.

Harold was born September 20, 1942, in Taos, a son to the late Frank A. and Amanda E. (Wekenburg) Veltrop. 

On November 15, 1969, he was united in marriage to Frances Koenigsfeld at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Frankenstein.  She survives of the home.

Harold was employed at Caspari Custom Cabinets in Jefferson City, City of Jefferson Police Department and the News Tribune for 22 years retiring in 2011. He was a lifelong dairy farmer and was a big fan of his John Deere equipment. 

Harold’s true love was farming, where he raised and milked dairy cattle all his life.  He enjoyed farming, working their dairy operation, and driving his John Deere tractors.  His greatest love was spending time with his family and cows.

Harold was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eldon and Dairy Farmers of America.

In addition to his spouse of 52 years, Harold is survived by his children: Frank (Karyn) Veltrop of Meta, Tricia (George) Kliethermes of Osage Bend, Nathan (Bethany) Veltrop of Linn; six grandchildren, Cole Veltrop, Adam Veltrop, Madalyn Veltrop, Makenna Kliethermes, Ellie Kliethermes, and Clara Veltrop; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.     

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Morton Chapel in Linn.  An additional visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eldon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eldon with Rev. John Schmitz as the Celebrant.  Interment will follow in the Spring Garden Cemetery near Eugene.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Spring Garden Cemetery or a charity of the donor’s choice.
