Herbert Anthony Boeckmann, 76 of Linn, Mo passed away Sunday, September 7, 2008 at his home in Linn with his family around him.

He was born March 10, 1932 in Koeltztown, MO to the late Stephen and Adelheide (Luebbert) Boeckmann.

On October 1, 1955, he was married to Berniece Velma Epple at the Assumption Catholic Church in Morrison, Missouri by the late Fr. Donahue. She survives at the home.

Herbert served in the Army from October 1952 to 1954 and fought in the Korean conflict. He worked at McGraw Edison for ten years and then at the Chrysler Corporation in Fenton, Missouri for 27 years. After his retirement in 1991, he worked part-time at the Department of Revenue and the Linn School District.

He enjoyed spending time with his grand children and great grandson. He also enjoyed camping and gardening. Herbert was an avid horseshoe player who had won many trophies and other prizes.

He was a member of the VFW in Linn, a member of the Linn Knights of Columbus and also a 4th degree member at Westphalia.

Survivors include one daughter, Lynn R. King, one son Steven E. Boeckmann both of Linn. Four grandchildren, Samantha R. King, Steven E. Boeckmann, Jr., Bradley L. Boeckmann, Kalynn M. Boeckmann and one great grandson, Anthony R. King; four brothers, Victor (Jeri) Boeckmann of St. Louis, Joseph (Ann) Boeckmann of Jefferson City, David (Esther) Boeckmann of Taos, Arthur (Helen) Boeckmann of Wardsville; five sisters, Monica (Vic) Bruemmer of Jefferson City, Viola (Elmer)Weber of Westphalia, Rosemary (Ray) Bishop of Centertown, Frances (Fred) Schwartze of Vienna, Anna Marie (Billy) Reinkemeyer of Jefferson City; one sister-in-law, Agnes (Ken) Uplinger of Columbia and two brother-in-laws, Gail (Goldie) Epple of Jefferson City and Dennis Epple of Morrison and the family pet, Teddy

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Adelheide, mother and father-in-law, Velma and Edward Epple; brothers Alphonse, Lawrence, and Raymond Boeckmann; brothers-in-law, Roy Epple, Tony Bisges and Martin Wolken; sisters-in-law, Margaret, Clara, Emma, Gertrude, Margie Boeckmann and Venita Epple.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Morton Chapel in Linn.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at St. George Catholic Church with Fr. I.C. Medina as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the St. George Church Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. George School Lunch Program or Masses may be given.
