Joseph A. "Joe" Voss, age 80 of Linn, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at Autumn Meadows Skilled Nursing Facility in Linn.
Joe was born, July 11, 1933, in Jefferson City, a son to the late Joseph F. and Anna Maria Sophia (Iven) Voss.
Joe was a 1950, graduate of Linn High School. Joe also served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
On September 16, 1961, Joe was united in marriage to Virginia Struemph in Freeburg. She preceded him in death on August 24, 1974.
Joe was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Linn, a past member of Linn Council 4838 Knights of Columbus, VFW Post 4756 in Linn, American Legion Post #317 in Freeburg and a past member of the Linn Jaycees.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and spending time with his family.
Survivors include: two sons, Carl and his wife Rebecca Voss of Henley and Adrian and his wife Darice Voss of Linn; two daughters, Jill and her husband Brad Grimm of Holts Summit and Sheila Voss of Columbia; one brother, Paul and his wife Shirley Voss of Jefferson City; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Ginny, Nick, Will, Sophia and Ava and one great grandchild, Hudson.
In addition to his wife and parents, Joe was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Raymond Voss.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014 at Morton Chapel in Linn. A Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn with Fr. John Schmitz as the Celebrant.
Interment, with full military honors, will follow in the St. George Parish Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. George School Library or to the American Cancer Society.
