Kenneth “Kenny” Shelley, age 85, of Linn, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025, at his residence.
Kenneth was born on November 22, 1939, in Chamois, a son to the late William Shelley Sr. and Marie (Vehlewald) Shelley.
Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
On October 8, 1966, he was united in marriage to Margaret “Margie” Rackers at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos. Margie preceded him in death on May 4, 2023.
Kenneth was a carpet installer and cleaner.
He enjoyed reading his bible, playing his guitar and listening to gospel and old country music. He liked to share his music with people at local nursing homes which he did for 30 years. He never knew a stranger and was a man of integrity. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
Kenneth is survived by two daughters, Beatrice Shelley and Rebecca Shelley both of Linn; a sister, Irene Grothoff of Jefferson City, two sisters-in-laws, Bonnie Gabelsberger and her husband Bob and Wanda Rothove and her husband William all of Frankenstein; one brother-in-law, Donnie Hoelscher of Jefferson City; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents and spouse of 56 years, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Shelley, Jr., and Clarence Shelley; three sisters, Velma Huesgen, Ida Stewart and Marcella Sturdevant and two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Hoelscher and Patricia Deters.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Morton Chapel in Linn. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment with Full Military Honors will be in Linn Public Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Charity of Donor’s Choice.
