Kent “Smitty” Smith, age 59 of Linn, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2020, at Landmark Hospital in Columbia.
Smitty was born June 3, 1961, in Jefferson City, a son to the late Perry and Janice (Baclesse) Smith.
Smitty attended Linn High School.
Smitty was an over the road truck driver working for Woody Bogler Trucking Company in Gerald and Osage Custom Pallets in Linn.
He enjoyed cooking and loved nature in general, always taking the scenic route while listening to his favorite music by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Smitty loved living in Linn and reminiscing about the “good ole days”. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Kansas City Chiefs fan. Smitty was a great storyteller who enjoyed teasing people and making them laugh. He was always going to auctions where he would always make new friends. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and his dogs.
Smitty is survived by: his fiancé of twenty years, Kelli Todd of Linn; one daughter, Haylee Smith of Linn; a step-daughter, Tonya Todd of Bonne Terre; a step-son, Micheal Todd of Jefferson City; two grandchildren, Kaydence and Eli Schnieder; three brothers, Alan Smith and his wife Cathy of Koelztown, Greg Smith and his wife Beverly of Linn, and Brad Smith and his wife Donna of East Prairie; two sisters, Vicki Ponder of Iberia and Bridget Leivian and her husband Edmond, Jr. of Linn; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at Morton Chapel in Linn. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Linn Public Cemetery.
