Larry Monroe

Larry L. Monroe, age 82 of Linn, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2021, at SSM St. Mary’s Health Center in Jefferson City surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born March 16, 1939, in Pointers Creek, a son to the late William and Josephine (Branson) Monroe.

Larry attended Pointers Creek Elementary School and was a 1957 graduate of Linn High School. He also attended Bolivar College.

He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed raising hogs, cattle and crops. Larry was also a carpenter building houses in the area.

Larry was a former member of Oklahoma Church of Christ and Solid Rock Baptist Church.  He also was a member of the Channel 22 CB Club.

He enjoyed bowling, gardening, fishing, hunting, trapping, playing his electric guitar, listening to his CB radio with his call name of “Catfish” and spending time with his family and friends.  Larry enjoyed helping people and was a good “ole American guy”.  

Larry is survived by: his loving companion, Margie Wilson of Linn; two sons, Jeff (Cindy) Monroe of Linn and Gregory Monroe of Loose Creek; two daughters, Jayne Masek and Dwaine Hilke of Phoenix, AZ and Gayle (Tony) Templeton of Russellville; Margie’s son, Cliff Wilson of Morrison; six grandchildren, Jared (Monica) Monroe, Jordan Monroe, Kendra (Jhonny) Izaguirre-Masek, Kayla (Sammy) Gonzales, Elijah (Grace Barnett) Templeton, and Levi Templeton; six great grandchildren along with two on the way, Kayden and Sophia Monroe, Zane Westcott, Macario Izaguirre, Luna and Roman Gonzales and baby girl, Jade Izaguirre due in October of 2021 and baby boy, Easton Monroe due in November of 2021; one sister, Linda Roberts of Linn; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a grandson, Codey Ratliff, a brother-in-law, Bob Roberts and his special dog, Jake.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Morton Chapel in Linn.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 9, 2021, at Morton Chapel in Linn with Rev. Perry Wolfe officiating.  Interment will be in the Pointers Creek Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Pointers Creek Cemetery Fund.
