Larry Peters

Larry F. Peters, age 83, of Loose Creek, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife of 61 years and family at his side.

Larry was born on December 19, 1942, at home, one of eleven children to the late Carter and Louise (Haslag) Peters.

He was a 1957 graduate of Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Loose Creek and was a 1961 graduate of Fatima High School. He served in the United States National Guard.

On May 1, 1965, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Bailey at St. Louis of France Catholic Church in Bonnots Mill. Kathryn survives at their home.

Larry went to work with his dad at the family’s poultry business for several years. In April of 1969, he founded Bailey-Peters Gas Company, which grew into one of the largest privately held companies in Central Missouri. In November of 1979, Larry sold the company to Ferrell Gas. He continued working as general manager for Ferrell Gas and later worked for Twehous Excavating Company and Laclede Electric-MFA Propane until his retirement in 2008.

He was a lifelong and active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek.

Larry enjoyed golfing, playing horseshoes, barbequing and going to the Downstream Casino. Perhaps his most loved title was that of Grandpa. He and Kathryn were the center of their grandchildren’s lives. They graciously welcomed the steady flow of little ones always coming to their door at any given hour for any given reason.

In addition to his wife of 61 years, Larry is survived by his daughter, Denise (Brad) Berhorst of Loose Creek; a son, Kevin (Amie) Peters of Loose Creek; seven grandchildren, Bailey (Luke) Haslag, Blake (Tony) Mebruer and Bradi Berhorst, Logan (Jessica) Peters, Carson (Cody) Borgmeyer, Mason (Jason) Otto, and Addisyn Peters; twelve great-grandchildren, Beckett, Bodie, Bennett, and Brooks Peters, Hudson, Tucker, and Ty Borgmeyer, Noah, Waylan, and Quincy Otto, Teddy and Hallie Haslag; two brothers, Leon (Lucille) Peters, and Wayne Peters, both of Loose Creek; six sisters, Ruth Verslues, Evelyn (Sylvester) Backes, Mary Lou (Norman) Bailey, Donna Jaegers, all of Loose Creek, Kathy (Wayne) Eynard of Bonnots Mill, and Janet (Roger) Klebba of Taos; three sisters-in-law, Mary Pat Peters (Andy) Koenigsfeld of Linn, Diana Bailey of Loose Creek and Diana Eynard of Loose Creek; brothers-in-law, Mark (Sheila) Bailey and multitude nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a granddaughter, McKenna Peters, two brothers, Carter Peters, Jr., and Charles (Betty) Peters, Sr.; brother-in-law, Kenneth Bailey; and a sister-in-law, Ann Bailey.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek with Fr. Anthony Rinaldo as the Celebrant. Interment will be held in the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Immaculate Conception School Foundation.
