Lee D. Thomeczek

Lee David Thomeczek, age 65, of Linn, passed peacefully on November 26, 2025, at the University of Missouri Health Care Center.

Lee was born on July 25, 1960. He was the 8th child of Marcella (Rustemeyer) and M.F. (Fritz) Thomeczek.

Lee was married on September 19,1992, to Cindy Renae Engelbrecht.

Lee attended St. George School and Linn R-II High School, graduating with the class of 1978. He was active in the FFA during his high school years and served a term as president of that organization.

Lee loved farming. His father died in 1976, when Lee was 15 years old and he, alongside his brother, Cliff, took over running the family farm. For many years the two brothers raised swine, baled hay and managed a beef cattle herd. Lee did not shy away from putting in a full and honest day’s work. As one of his nephews said “that man could outwork most mere humans”.

After finishing high school Lee had several off the farm jobs, including working at the Osage County Road Maintenance Dept., home construction with Kenny Perry and at the Linn R-II schools as maintenance supervisor.

Lee was active in the Linn Lions Club for many years and volunteered countless hours to ensure that the Osage County Fair was a success.

Lee was very proud of his family. He often said that his daughters could take on anything that they wanted to conquer. He loved listening to Cardinal baseball games with Annabeth. Lee enjoyed squirrel and deer hunting and looked forward to the annual family clay bird shooting contests. After retiring he loved driving his side-by-side across the farm fields and hosting his brothers and nephews for breakfast at Casper’s.

In addition to his wife of 33 years, Lee is survived by his daughters Amanda (Chris) Christian and Annabeth Thomeczek, both of Jefferson City. Lee is survived by 5 brothers, Mark (Pam) Thomeczek of Columbia, Frank Thomeczek of Columbia, Steve (Sheila) Thomeczek of Columbia, Matt Thomeczek of Sedalia, and Andrew (Shirley) Thomeczek of Loraine, IL; 3 sisters, Christy Brandt of Linn, Ellen Larson of Overland Park, KS, and Laurie (Les) Holmes of Kansas City; 1 sister-in-law, Connie (Dobsch) Thomeczek of Linn. Lee is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, brother Cliff, brother-in-law Don Brandt and sister-in-law Lisa (Heidbreder) Thomeczek.
