Lena Mae Foster

Lena Mae Foster, age 82, of Linn, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.

Lena Mae was born November 30, 1941, in Linn, a daughter to the late Fred S. and Lena (Voss) Nilges. 

She was a 1959 graduate of Linn High School where she excelled in track and field. As a 14-year-old sophomore, Lena Mae received a chance to compete at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, PA in the American Athletic Union national track and field championships. 

Lena Mae was employed in the banking industry for over 50 years, with 41 years spent at Legends Bank, before she retired on January 31, 2019.

She was a member of St. George Catholic Church and enjoyed going out to eat at Chop House Grill in Linn, visiting with friends and playing bingo. 

Lena Mae is survived by: one son, Keith (Linda) Huether of Columbia, two daughters, Cheryl Laughlin (Jay) of Bonnots Mill, and Tammy (Tim) Cavender of Jefferson City; eight grandchildren, Jason (Christin) Huether, Jodie (Forest) Nenninger, Cameron Laughlin, Chase Laughlin, Mick, Paige, Luke, and Drew Cavender; and two great grandchildren, Madison Huether and Wells Nenninger, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: four brothers, Albert, Eugene, Fred H. and Raymond Nilges and a sister, Judy Kaullen.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Morton Chapel in Linn. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn with Fr. Colin Franklin as the Celebrant.  Interment will be in the St. George Parish Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or St. George Catholic Church.
