Leroy Wiegers, age 86, of Belle, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Capitol Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.

Leroy was born on December 9, 1939, in Jefferson City, a son to the late Martin and Margaret (Hertzing) Wiegers.

He attended Koenig School in rural Osage County. He was a lifelong farmer, and he was employed at Quaker Windows in Freeburg.

Leroy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain.

He was a simple man, who didn’t waste anything, he was a recovering acholic who was proud of his over 32 years of sobriety. AA and the sponsors were what helped keep him sobor.

Leroy enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, hunting, fishing, cutting wood, going to the Gasconade River to read his newspaper and let his dogs play in the river. He always looked forward to fall because of deer camp and getting to play Pitch with the guys. He really enjoyed watching television and the Kansas City Chiefs football. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his daughters.

Leroy is survived by his three daughters, Maranda (Dale) Massman of Argyle, Melinda Meyer of Jefferson City and Machelle “Shelly” Goldner of Eugene; four grandchildren, Daris (Ryan) Davis, Paige Griffith, Dustin Meyer, and Brooke (Chris) Schnieders; seven great grandchildren, Cohen, Bentley, Gage, Trinity, Grayson, Kennedy, and Myles; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by a grandson, Brent Massman; a sister, Elizabeth (Paul) Sestak; two sons-in-law, Kyle Goldner and Jeff Meyer; his ex-wife, the mother of his children, who was a lifelong friend, Millie Hopkins and his two dogs, Dray and Fritz.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. William Debo as the Celebrant. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
