Lyle E. Garreau, age 80, of Linn, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, at SSM Health St. Marys in Jefferson City.

Lyle was born on January 24, 1944, in Jefferson, Iowa, a son to the late Leon and Loretta (Veasman) Garreau.

Lyle was a 1962 graduate of Guthrie Center High School. He later earned his teaching certificate from Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville. 

Lyle proudly served his country in the United States Army for over 20 years retiring on June 30 1990.

On March 29, 1974, he was united in marriage to Patricia Rowan in Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Pat survives at their residence. 

After Lyle retired from serving in the Army, he taught industrial arts at Blair Oaks in Wardsville for 5 years, worked at Scholastics in Jefferson City until he retired to run and tinker on his hobby farm. 

He was a member of the VFW and the International Cub Tractor Association. 

Lyle enjoyed fishing, metal detecting, tinker with antiques like tractors, clocks, radios, and anything with a motor. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife of 50 years, Lyle is survived by his two children, Gail (Marvin) Lande of Gutherie Center, Iowa and Kelly Garreau of Loose Creek; two grandchildren, Jessica Lande of Gilbert, Iowa and Shelby (Travis) Cunningham of Wesley Chapel, Florida; four great grandchildren, Luke and Liam Cunningham and Grayson and Harper Lande; three brothers, Lloyd Garreau of Mascow Mills, Leo (Jackie) Garreau of Waukee, Iowa and Lynn (Diane) Garreau of Kentwood Michigan; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Chad Garreau and one sister, Lois Garwood.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Morton Chapel in Linn with Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment with full military honors will be in St. George Parish Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Tunnel 2 Towers.
