Marchia Louise Monroe, age 71 of Jefferson City, formerly of Linn, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.

Marchia was born May 16, 1954, in Jefferson City, a daughter to the late Alvin “Corky” and Edna Imogene (Mosley) Monroe.

Marchia was of the Christian faith. She loved getting together with friends to laugh and have a good time playing cards, although she liked to win in the card games. Marchia was an avid reader with an extensive library.

Marchia was loved by everyone in her life because she had a rare gift, she made each person feel truly special. She was fiercely independent, never wanting anything from anyone, yet she gave so much of herself to those she loved. Her greatest joy was her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Her love for her family had a way of bringing everyone together-she was the one we could always go to. She was the glue that held us close.

She took pride in herself, her family and friends. She carried herself with grace and confidence. She will be forever remembered as one of the most beautiful people, both inside and out. Marchia was a true example of goodness and kindness and a devoted friend.

Marchia is survived by two brothers, Jerry Monroe and his wife Gail of Jefferson City and Keith Monroe and his wife Sharon of Linn; a brother-in-law, Daniel Schaefer of Linn; three nieces, Amber Addison, Lori Becklenberg and Angela Schaefer Drupp; three nephews, Daniel Schaefer II, Ryan Monroe and Adam Monroe, as well as several great nieces and nephews.
