Margaret Mary “Margie” Kliethermes, 93, of Loose Creek, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, at home.

She was born on December 16, 1932, in Taos, the daughter of the late William S. and Walburga (Borgmeyer) Thessen.

She was a 1950 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Westphalia.

She married Alvin J. Kliethermes on June 2, 1956, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos. He preceded her in death on August 14, 1975.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek. She was employed at daycares in Taos and Linn and worked in the cafeteria at Linn High School.

She found joy in the simple, meaningful things in life - whether it was playing cards or board games, tending to her cherished vegetable and flower gardens, cooking for those she loved, or baking her delicious breads, pies, and cinnamon rolls. She was the heart of her family farm, working with dedication and care, and creating a life rooted in faith, hard work, and love. Above all, she cherished her roles as a loving wife, devoted mother, and proud grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by eight children: Elaine Chrismer of Imperial, Joyce (Marshall) Boessen of St. Thomas, Mary (James) Dallas of Wardsville, Joe Kliethermes of Loose Creek, Doris Kliethermes of St. Louis, Carol Kliethermes of Jefferson City, Lori (Brian) Buchanan of Jefferson City, and Patrick Kliethermes of Loose Creek; three grandchildren, Jonathan (Emily) Dallas, Jennifer (Jacob) Wilhoit, and Lindley Buchanan; one step-grandchild, Kari (Brian) Skrobonja; five great-grandchildren, Jimmy Dallas, Tommy Dallas, Jacob Wilhoit Jr., Henry Wilhoit, and Daniel Wilhoit; three step-great grandchildren; and six step-great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Thessen of Wardsville; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Ralph Chrismer; step-grandchild, Trey Chrismer; brothers, William J. (Joann) Thessen, Walter Thessen, and James Thessen; sister, Alberta Thessen; and brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Francis (Margaret A.) Kliethermes, Loraine (Ted) Reich, Rosemary (Francis) Messig, and Jan Messig.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek. Additional visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek with Fr. Anthony Rinaldo as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery in Loose Creek.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association, MU Children’s Miracle Network, and for memorial masses.
