Margaret "Margie" Shelley

Margaret “Margie” Shelley, age 75 of Linn, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.

Margie was born July 13, 1947, in Jefferson City, a daughter to the late Elmer and Agatha (Taube) Rackers. 

On October 8, 1966, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Shelley at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos.  He survives of their home.

Margie was a homemaker who enjoyed raising her daughters.  She later was employed by Scholastic, Inc. in Jefferson City.

She was a Christian who loved to serve the Lord.  Margie enjoyed poems and crossword puzzles along with reading her bible and studying her Sunday school book.  Sharing a meal with family and friends always brought her joy. 

In addition to her spouse of 56 years, Margie is survived by: two daughters, Beatrice Shelley and Rebecca Shelley both of Linn; two sisters, Bonnie Gabelsberger and her husband Bob of Frankenstein and Wanda Rothove and her husband Bill of Frankenstein; a brother-in-law, Donnie Hoelscher of Jefferson City; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn Hoelscher and Patricia Deters.  

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 8, 2023, at Morton Chapel in Linn.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Janice Wilson officiating.  Interment will be in Linn Public Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Salvation Army.
