Marie Margret Thompson, 89, of Linn, Missouri, died Sunday, February 28, 2010, at Westphalia Hills Retirement Center.

She was born November 30, 1920, in Linn, Missouri, the daughter of Frank and Cora (Coulter) Knoerr.

She attended Mt. Aerial School and Linn High School.

On February 9, 1939, she was united in marriage to Lester V. (L.V.) Thompson who preceded her in death on March 26, 2003.

A homemaker, Marie also worked outside the home at the Linn Manufacturing Company for many years and later as a supervisor for the Missouri Department of Revenue until her retirement.

Marie was a member of St. George Catholic Church, St. Ann's Ladies' Sodality, Marine Corps League Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Marie enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, dancing, music, traveling, reading, writing in her journal, and in later years, bird watching, playing cards & dominoes and Cardinal baseball. Family was Marie's priority and she was a pro at hosting family gatherings.

Other survivors include her children: Charlotte Baclesse of Jefferson City; Jeanine Dulle and husband Dave of Jefferson City; Bill Thompson of Linn; Eric Thompson and his wife Sandi of Linn; Cindy Thompson of Mt. Vernon; and Stephanie Lehmen and husband Bruce of Jefferson City. She is survived by 14 grandchildren and 1 step grandchild: Sam Baclesse, Sara Trumbull, Kelley Dawley, Kerrey Renkemeyer, Kimmey Lee, Tiffany Thompson, Billy Thompson, Amy Taif, Adam Thompson, Austin Thompson, Jessie Fischer, Carmen Thompson, Taylor Jobes, Tucker Jobes and Mackenzie Lehmen. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Marie is survived by one sister, Catherine Balkenbusch, and one brother, Wilbur Knoerr, both of Linn. She was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Helen Reed, Cora Beller, Lorraine Stewart and Dorothy Nilges and by one brother, John Knoerr.

Friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Morton Chapel in Linn.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at St. George Catholic Church, Linn, with Fr. I.C. Medina officiating. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery, Linn.
