Marilyn A. Jahnsen, age 81 of Mt. Sterling, passed away Monday, December 20, 2021, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.

Marilyn was born June 4, 1940, in St. Louis, a daughter to the late Joseph and Beatrice (Huth) Steinkamp.

She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier High School in St. Louis.

On May 9, 1959, she was united in marriage to Martin Raymond Jahnsen at Holy Family Catholic Church in St. Louis. He preceded her in death on November 2, 2019.

She was employed as an office assistant at Pediatric Dentistry of Sunset Hills in St. Louis and was a tax preparer for H&R Block for over 20 years.

Marilyn was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Linn, St. Ann’s Sodality, and Daughters of Isabella. She was a supporter of Vitae Foundation.

She was a community volunteer serving our schools, church, Vitae Foundation, and helping anyone in need. Her church and family were very important to her and she was very supportive of any endeavors by her family.

Marilyn enjoyed being on the go either traveling or watching grandchildren’s events. She loved cooking and baking for her family especially “grandma’s famous pancakes”. Marilyn enjoyed reading and was very competitive when playing games.

Marilyn is survived by: two sons, Keith Jahnsen and his wife Rosaire of Bland and Gary Jahnsen and his wife Rheannon of Linn; two daughters, Christine Carr and her husband Tim of Mt. Sterling and Mandy Sharp and her husband Steve of St. Louis; three brothers, Joe Steinkamp and his wife Jeanne, Greg Steinkamp and his wife Robin, and Rick Steinkamp and his wife Gina, all of St. Louis; five sisters, Kathleen DePetrillo and her husband Al of the State of Florida, Annette Baumker of the State of California, Marcia Albrecht and her husband Jerry of St. Louis, Jeanne Short and her husband Chuck of St. Louis, and Elise Brannan and her husband Dave of High Ridge; 26 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Steinkamp, a granddaughter, Tayla Rae and a great granddaughter, Maurietta Beil.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at St. George Catholic Church with Fr. Colin Franklin as the Celebrant. Interment will be at Giedinghagen Cemetery near Mt. Sterling.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Vitae Foundation.
