Marilyn “Mitzi” Fowler, age 85, of Linn, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Harbor Place in Linn.
Mitzi was born on August 16, 1938, in Westphalia, a daughter to the late Leonard and Connie (Risse) Schmitz.
Mitzi was a 1956 graduate of Fatima High School.
On June 8, 1957, she was united in marriage to Jerry Ray Fowler at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia. Jerry preceded her in death on October 24, 1996.
Mitzi was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Linn.
Doing puzzles was a pastime that Mitzi loved, but what she adored the most was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Mitzi is survived by one son, Johnnie (Susie) Fowler of Linn; two daughters, Debbie (Harold “Sneak”) Keilholz of Chamois and Jeri Ann (Tim) Rackers of Linn; a son-in-law, Tim Thoenen of Linn; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; two brothers, Donnie Schmitz of St. Joseph and David (Linda) Schmitz of Jefferson City; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband of 39 years, Mitzi was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Thoenen, sister and brother-in-law, Gerry (Dick) Walz; sister-in-law Ceil Schmitz; special friend, Gary Howard; and last but not least her bodyguard, Girl.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Colin Franklin as the Celebrant. Interment will be in the St. George Parish Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. George Catholic Church or to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
