Mary L. Nilges, age 86 of Loose Creek, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Westphalia Hills.
Mary was born November 29, 1932, in Taos, a daughter to the late William and Annie (Taube) Brand.
On October 24, 1953, she was united in marriage to Henry Nilges at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos. He survives of the home.
Mary was employed at the Immaculate Conception School in Loose Creek as a cook for over ten years.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek, St. Ann’s Ladies Sodality, IC Sewing Circle, and the Linn VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Mary enjoyed quilting, fishing, gardening, canning, cooking, going to the gambling boats and lottery scratch-off tickets.
In addition to her spouse of 66 years, Mary is survived by: one son, Virgil Nilges; three daughters, Phyllis Prenger and her husband Tom of Linn, Marlene Stiefermann and her husband Warren of Jefferson City and Carolyn Pointer and her husband Tim of Linn; ten grandchildren, Kyle (Jayme) Prenger of Boonville, Keith (Janet) Prenger of Taos, Kale (Carrie) Prenger of Jacksonville, FL, Colby (Mandy) Nilges of Linn, Lindsey Mullins (friend Greg Bestgen) of California, Michelle (Justin) Mosley of Linn, Christa (Andy) Warren of Linn, Dustin (Alycia) Maasen of Linn, and Matthew (Brittany) Pointer of Linn; 20 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by: three brothers, Werner (Margaret) Brand, Louis (Cecilia) Brand and Lawrence (Annie) Brand; five sisters, Gertrude (Clarence) Kempker, Dorothy (Marvin) Steghaus, Wilhelmina (Lawrence) Kempker, Virginia (Elmer) Jaegers, and Teresa (Jerome) Jaegers; one grandson, Taylor Pointer; and one grandson-in-law, Dustin Mullins.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2019, at Morton Chapel in Linn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek with Fr. Callistus C. Okoroji as the celebrant. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church Capital Campaign.
