Maureen "Mo" Anne Kremer

Maureen “Mo” Anne Kremer, age 74, of Columbia, passed away on July 15, 2026, at her home surrounded by family.

She was born on March 15, 1952, in Portsmouth, VA, one of 7 children to Daniel and Anne (Vrablik) Brandon.

As her father was Active Duty in the United States Navy, Mo and her family had moved to Hawaii during her high school years where she graduated from Aiea High School in Aiea, HI on the Island of Oahu in 1970.

After her father’s tour in Hawaii, Mo and her family moved back to Maryland where she met her husband Bob Kremer (deceased) of 49 years while working at the VFW in Fredrick, MD when Bob was assigned to Fort Deitrick, MD U.S. Army Biological Warfare Laboratories. They were married on March 15, 1975, in Rockville, MD before moving to Missouri.

Mo’s greatest joy was being GrandMo to her four grand-girls and loved them so fiercely. She also found happiness in cross-stitching baby blankets and other gifts for friends and family, rescuing a number of animals from the humane society including her “two boys” Larry and Curley who never left her side, and her lifelong joy: putting her natural green thumb to use wherever she roamed; be that vacation destinations, offices, and friend/family houses. She had such a knack for growing and rehabilitating plants, her home’s the sunroom transformed into a makeshift greenhouse and plant rehabilitation center.

Known as “The Plant Lady” around Columbia, Mo worked for Plant Designs for 26 years caring for plants all over the city, retiring in 2025 and prior to that as secretary for the Communications Department in Switzler Hall at the University of Missouri for 16 years where she made life-long friends with students and staff alike.

Mo is survived by her two children; Andrew (Amanda) Kremer of Cincinnati OH, Erin Moore of Columbia; four grandchildren, Ava Moore, Emma Moore, Addison Kremer, and Ainsley Kremer; siblings Patty (Rodger) Schwerkolt of Brewster, NY, David (Gretchen) Brandon of Normis, FL, James (Becky) Brandon of Lutz FL, John (Barbara) Brandon of Darnstown, MD, and maternal Uncle Jackie Vrablik of Falls Church, VA.

In addition to her husband of 49 years, Mo is preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Anne Brandon, brothers Robert and Daniel Brandon.
