Norman W. Baldwin D.O.

Dr. Norman W. Baldwin, D.O. aged 92 of Linn, MO passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at the Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.

He was born on September 28, 1916 in Toronto, Canada to the late Gerald and Margaret (Davy) Baldwin.

As a young man Dr. Baldwin attended schools in Canada and Bermuda. He graduated from Royal Oak High School in Royal Oak, MI in June of 1935. He then attended the University of Michigan from 1935 until 1936 and graduated from the Kirksville College of Osteopathy and Surgury in January 1941.

On June 1, 1941 Dr. Baldwin opened his medical practice in Linn. On September 1, 1941 he was united in marriage to Dora A. Barge in Bethany, MO. She preceded him in death on March 25, 1998.

Dr. Baldwin helped establish the Charles E. Still Osteopathic Hospital in Jefferson City. He began working on uniting lay and professional groups together in 1943 with the hospital opening in 1953. He was Chief of Staff in 1956 and 1957 and was a regular staff member until 1980 when he became an associate staff member. He continued his practice in Linn until his retirement in 1992.

He and his wife Dora both had obtained their private pilot's license. They loved flying and owned several different planes. Their love of travel took them to many destinations worldwide.
