Richard H. Porting, age 79, of Loose Creek, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at SSM St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City.

Richard was born December 19, 1936, in Loose Creek, a son to the late Herbert and Gertrude (Muenks) Porting.

Richard was a 1955 graduate of Fatima High School.

On April 23, 1960, he was united in marriage to Jeanne "Dede" Marie Oidtman at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek. She survives at their home in Cadet Creek.

Richard was a lifetime farmer. He also worked at Algoa Correctional Center in Jefferson City as a Maintenance Supervisor and for a short time, Muenks Feed Mill Farm.

Richard was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was proud to be involved with Boy Scout Troop #76 in Loose Creek when his son, Kyle, became an Eagle Scout.

Richard loved the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed woodworking especially making toys for his grandchildren. Richard was a very patient and kind hearted man. He often had a favorite dog by his side. He enjoyed welding and fixing things, attending tractor sales in Clinton, feeding the birds, watching RFD TV and especially enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, Richard is survived by: three children, Doug Porting and his wife Pam of Jefferson City, Julie Mantle and her husband Scott of Bonnots Mill, and Kyle Porting and his wife Laura of Jefferson City; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Rachel and Anna Porting, Lindsey Shanks and her husband Brandon, Neil Mantle, Jacob and Caleb Porting; one great grandchild, Peyten Shanks; a brother, Allan Porting and his wife Shirley of St. Martins; two sisters, Sylvia Roling of Loose Creek and Karen Call and her husband James of Russellville; one brother-in-law, Albert Jansen of Bonnots Mill; a sister-in-law, Carol Porting of Bonnots Mill; a brother-in-law, John Oidtman; a sister and three brothers-in-law, Martha and Roy Mitchell, Harold Muenks, and Albert Haslag; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Catherine Porting; a brother, Charles Porting; a sister, Grace Jansen; a brother-in-law, Bill Roling; parents-in-law, John and Georgia Oidtman; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary Lee and Virgil Kliethermes, and Patricia and Joseph Muenks, and three sisters-in-law, Generose Haslag, Jacquilin Muenks, and Pat Oidtman.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek. A rosary service will be held at 3:15 p.m. and a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek with Fr. Louis Nelen as the Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Vitae Foundation, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or Boy Scout Troop #76.
