Rick Wekenborg, age 68, of Linn, formerly of Raymondville, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024, at his residence with his faithful companion Ivy by his side.
Rick was born on October 2, 1955, in Jefferson City, a son to the late Gerald Sylvester and Mary Lou (Krummen) Wekenborg.
Rick was a 1973 graduate of Jefferson City High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from September of 1973 until September of 1977. He later enlisted with the National Guard, serving from April of 1990 until his was honorable discharged in April of 2005.
Rick was employed as an independent contractor who worked as an electronics technician, he liked radios and night vision cameras and spending time in Alaska and Afghanistan.
He was a devoted Catholic, and a proud member of the National Rifle Association.
Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting guns, and just being in the outdoors. He was also a ham radio operator. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
Rick is survived by one sister, Cindy (Jeff) Monroe of Linn; two nephews Jared (Monica) Monroe and Jordan Monroe; three great niece and nephews, Kayden Monroe, Sophia Monroe, and Easton Monroe, his beloved dog, Ivy and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Wekenborg and a brother, Douglas Wekenborg.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Morton Chapel in Linn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn with Fr. Colin Franklin as the Celebrant. Interment with Full Military Honors will be in the Pointers Creek Cemetery near Linn.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Masses in his memory or to Pointers Creek Cemetery Association.
