Ronald Scott Rector, age 52 of Linn, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015, doing the job he loved being a medical helicopter pilot.

Ronald was born on May 22, 1962, in Jefferson City, a son to Ronald G. and Beverly R. (McVey) Rector who survive in Callaway County near Jefferson City. Ronald was extremely close to his parents spending a lot of time with his father working together on various endeavors.

Ronald was a 1980 graduate of Helias High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.

On May 31, 1982, he was united in marriage to Jody Ann Boyer in Jefferson City. She survives at the home.

Ronald honorably served his country for 32 years in The United States Army and The United States Air Force. He was a Helicopter pilot and an instructor with the United States Army and he was a Survival Instructor with the United States Air Force respectfully. His military experience included serving as the Director of the Consolidated Personnel Recovery Center in Kabul, Afghanistan and was a member of the 101st Airborne Division.

Ronald was employed with Air Methods as a medical helicopter pilot.

Ronald was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Linn and the Linn VFW Post #4756.

Ronald liked his "toys" whether it be his Kubota tractor, motorcycles, or corvettes. He enjoyed his RC Cola and Hershey candy bars with almonds. He enjoyed his farm, working in his shop, and his dog, Duke. He was a natural born teacher and loved giving advice and fixing things. Ronald loved taking care of people and always wanted to make them happy. He was especially proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

In addition to his spouse of 32 years, he is survived by: one daughter, Roxanne Alden of Linn; one son, Ryan Rector of Columbia; two grandchildren, Hailie and Clayton Alden; three sisters, Theresa Rector-Prenger of Jefferson City, Nina Brown of Jefferson City, and Hope Mundwiller and her husband Michael of Owensville; mother-in-law, Midge O'Banion and her husband Dr. Jerry O'Banion of Jefferson City; sister-in-law, Julie Atkin and her husband John of Jefferson City; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Duaine C. Boyer.

Visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Morton Chapel in Linn.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn with Fr. Daniel Merz and Fr. John Schmitz as concelebrants. Interment with full military honors will be held at the St. George Parish Cemetery.
