Rosemary Frances (Peters) Smith was born March 8, 1942, in the little town of Frankenstein and passed away Monday, June 23, 2025, at her residence in Kansas City.
As a child she was very small, so her siblings took her under their wing and watched over her.
She was never called Rosemary by the family but by her nickname which was “Toots”.
After graduating from Fatima High School in 1960, she went on to Cosmetology school and worked as a hairdresser for the rest of her working years. She had numerous faithful and loyal clients over the years both in Jefferson City and in Kansas City.
While working in Jefferson City, Toots met and married Roger Smith, who was a Missouri Highway Patrolman. He was later transferred to Kansas City, and they made their home in Blue Springs. She and Roger were married for 15 years before he passed away.
Toots was very fond of cats to the point that it was almost an obsession.
Toots and her sister Shirley would talk a couple of times a month and the conversation never ended without her saying God Bless and I Love you. One of the last conversations between Toot’s and Shirley was about where Toots would be buried. Shirley told her, “You will come back to Frankenstein and be buried here with your family”. Toot’s you are now back here with our mom and dad and there are no signs that’s say NO Cats Allowed.
Toots is survived by one sister, Shirley Schmidt of Linn, one brother Danny Peters of Loose Creek as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Loretta (Huesgen) Peters, two brothers, Robert "Bob" Peters and Richard Peters and two sisters, Patricia Bonnot and Myrtle Peters.
Private family burial was held at the Garden of Gethsemane Cemetery in Frankenstein.
