Sherry Dee Nilges-Laswell

Sherry Dee Nilges-Laswell, age 56 of Columbia formerly of Macon, was welcomed home on Sunday, April 24, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.

Sherry was born April 3, 1966, in Jefferson City, a daughter to Jerry Nilges of Columbia and Arlene Stiefermann McGee of Crystal River, FL.

On December 17, 2008, she was united in marriage to Jason Laswell in Quincy, IL.  He survives of their home.

She was a member of Crossroads Christian Church in Macon where she volunteered her time helping the community in various activities.

Sherry enjoyed working out, gardening, traveling, shopping, and being outdoors.  Her favorite holiday was Easter and always said that springtime is life. She was a spontaneous person who always had a positive attitude, was full of love for her family and friends and had a big heart. Sherry was a strong person who faced her illness head on and lived life to the fullest believing that life was too short.

In addition to her parents and her spouse of 14 years, Sherry is survived by:  four children, NiKole Davis of North Reddington Beach FL, Keith (Stephanie) Davis of Columbia, Gabrielle (Phillip) Pritchard of Macon, and James (Amanda) Carleton of Unionville, MO; one brother, Jim (Cindy) Nilges of Hartsburg; one sister, Krissi Nilges of Columbia; her step-mother, Beverly Nilges of Columbia; 14 grandchildren, one great grandson, six nieces and nephews, eight great nieces and nephews, and multiple adopted family and friends.

She was preceded in death by one son, Scotty Dale Pipes and her grandparents, Ray “Papa” and Norine “Mimmy” Stiefermann.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Morton Chapel in Linn with a Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Matt Stieger officiating.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of Morton Chapel, Linn, Missouri (897-2214)
