Velda M. Party, age 93, of Linn, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at her son’s residence surrounded by his loving family.
Velda was born on February 6, 1933, in Linn, a daughter to the late Robert and Flora (Tyree) Branson.
On November 26, 1957, she was united in marriage to James “Gus” Party in Hernando, Mississippi. James preceded her in death on October 30, 2014.
Velda was a caregiver for many family and friends.
She was a member of Kingdom Hall in Holts Summit.
Velda enjoyed cooking, especially her fried chicken and cornbread, baking especially her cookies and candy, fishing, feeding hummingbirds and stray animals, and going out to eat. You never left Velda’s house hungry; she loved to help anyone in need. Her greatest enjoyment was family being fed and visiting around the dinner table.
Velda is survived by three sons, Dale Party and his wife Tonya of Dixon, James L. Mantle and his wife Kathy of Bourbon, and Robert Mantle and his wife Janet of Union; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Jared, Jason, Cody and Conner; six great grandchildren, Morgan, Miya, Brooklyn, Zoey, Skyler and Ethan; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband of 57 years, Velda was preceded in death by her sister, Dixie Puckett and a brother, Verlyn Branson.
Graveside service and interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Solid Rock Cemetery in Judge.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Kingdom Hall in Holts Summit.
