Virgil W. Morris, 91, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at Autumn Meadows Skilled Care Center in Linn.

He was born March 14, 1917 in Owensville, MO to the late James and Clara (Sassman) Morris.

Virgil graduated from Owensville High School in 1935. On October 14, 1938 he married Velma M. Hoffmeier in Owensville. She preceded him in death on September 20, 2001. He was a World War II Navy Veteran. Virgil owned and operated a lime and fertilizer business and the SuperSweet Feed Store in Bland for many years. He also delivered vans and ambulances for Osage Vans.

He enjoyed mowing his grass, attending auctions, traveling and spending time at Caspers drinking coffee. He was also an avid Playboy magazine collector. Virgil was a Mason and a Shriner.

Survivors include: one daughter, Judi and husband Randy Atkin of Linn, MO/Charlotte, NC and one granddaughter, Dawn Pierce of Charlotte, NC.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Waldemar and Edgar and four sisters: Leoda Dunton, Mildred Burner, Winnie Willoughby and Melba Matlock.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 am, Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Morton Chapel in Linn with a memorial service to follow.

Private interment will be held at a later date.
