Wilfored Walter "Stud" Branson, age 91, of Bonnots Mill, Mo., passed away Thursday, September 17, 2026, at StoneBridge Westphalia.
He was born on October 15, 1934, in Jefferson City, a son of Frank and Cecelia (Samson) Branson. On October 21, 1961, Stud married Gertrude Bonnot, who passed away on September 16, 1995.
Stud enjoyed the simple things in life and was happiest when he was outdoors or surrounded by the people he loved. He especially enjoyed trout fishing and camping, where he could spend time in the fresh air and appreciate the peace and quiet of nature. He was also an avid hunter and looked forward to squirrel and deer hunting whenever he had the chance.
When he wasn’t outdoors, Stud could often be found around a table playing a good game of pitch or just about any card game. He had a bit of an ornery streak and could certainly be stubborn when he had his mind made up, traits that those who knew him best came to know and love.
Above all else, Stud loved his family dearly. Beneath that ornery and stubborn side was a man with a big heart and a deep devotion to those closest to him. The time spent together, the stories shared, and the memories made with Stud will be treasured by his family for years to come.
Stud is survived by, children, Doug Branson (Joyce) of Koeltztown, Mo., and Denice Branson, of Bonnots Mill, Mo.; grandchildren, Jacob Branson (Shelby), Amanda Branson, Seth Branson, and Kaylee Branson; and great-grandchildren, Weston and Wade.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude; daughter, Brenda Ann Moreland and her husband Rob; grandchildren, Matthew and Megan Moreland, parents, Frank and Cecelia Branson; and his sisters, Doris Drusch, and Mary Ann Gove.
A visitation will be held at Morton Chapel from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Morton Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 21, 2026, at Morton Chapel. Graveside services and interment will take place at St. George Parish Cemetery.
